Bio
In addition to being part of the foundation of SchoolPro K12, Dr. Eric Skanson has over 16 years of experience in public school administration and 22 years of education at large. He is a seasoned leader focusing on positive change, outstanding culture, and collaboration. Eric has served on the executive board of MESPA (Minnesota Elementary School Principal’s Association since 2014. In 2019, Eric was elected as the Minnesota Elementary Principal’s Association (MESPA) president, a 900-member professional advocacy group. He represented Minnesota in 2019 as Elementary Principal of the Year. He is an adjunct professor for both Bethel University and St. Cloud State University.
He received his Doctorate in Education from the University of Minnesota in 2016 through the Department of Organizational Leadership and Policy Development. His academic core focus was on the use of collaboration for organizational improvement. Eric has used his developed models to help shape the purpose and outcomes of collaboration in multiple organizations for positive change.
Eric is a leader of teams, a visionary of change, and a first-class communicator focusing on the balanced use of face-to-face interactions and social media. He is adept at developmental evaluation practices, including survey development, onsite cultural inventory goal setting, and measurement. His beginnings in education, lesson development, and engaging teaching make his professional development experiential and unforgettable.
Key career roles for Eric include teacher, coach, administrator, executive member (Secretary, Treasurer, President-Elect, and President) of MESPA, Executive Director of STRIDE Academy, and CEO of SchoolPro K12. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Valley City State University, a Master of Education from Hamline University, a Certificate of Educational Administration, and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Minnesota.
